Initially they aren\u2019t aware of the positive opportunities linked to being able to communicate in more than just their mother tongue. They might see learning a new language as impossible and too difficult. As language teachers, having the privilege of knowing the huge benefits of studying (at least) one foreign language, it is our duty to do everything we can to ensure that new generations don\u2019t distance themselves from the extraordinary field of knowledge that language learning opens up: one aspect of this is making the language learning process as comfortable as possible. Here are some tips:<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to make language learning easier for students<\/h2>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">If we define language learning as the promotion of skills by which humans acquire the capacity to learn a new language \u2013 it is obvious that ideally, this process should begin as early as possible. In fact, from a very young age, we can take advantage of the increased brain elasticity which makes us more adept at learning languages. A huge amount of research has been carried out on the subject which proves that younger students have much less difficulty learning a language compared to adult-age language learners.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Among the many useful strategies to simplify language learning and make it more interesting and accessible to students is definitely the use of different \u201cvoices\u201d or \u201ccommunication methods\u201d to increase exposure and ultimately help students approach, feel comfortable with and learn a new language. The possibilities are endless, watching a film clip, describing a painting or listening to a song. These are all activities which can expose the learner to different \u201cvoices\u201d and ultimately help them use them, all of which are essential to learning a new language. As well as making lessons more dynamic and interesting, this technique is very useful for catapulting the student into the heart of the language and culture being studied.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Finally, for anyone who has the responsibility and honour to play an important role in the growth and preparation of students, it is fundamental to possess a quality which should be an obvious pre requisite for doing this job but which unfortunately, a lot of the time gets overlooked: empathy. The ability to empathise with your students and understand them at a deeper level are in fact two indispensable elements to guarantee the best possible result in terms of language learning and improvement.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The teacher\u2019s role in the language learning process<\/h2>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">On a final note, language tutors and teachers must be conscious of the fundamental role that they play in their language learner\u2019s growth. A student\u2019s capacity to become passionate about the subject they are learning, in our case \u2013 languages &#8211; depends almost entirely on how much the teacher is able to be charismatic, appealing and stimulating. We can\u2019t expect students to fall in love with languages if we teachers don\u2019t love our subject.
