That\u2019s great, but how? The best place to start is definitely with listening and writing. We will look at speaking in another post: In fact, I am currently writing an article all about how to improve English pronunciation.<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">But today, let\u2019s focus on writing and listening in English: here are some of the most useful professional tips to help you improve more and more every day!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Professional tips on how to improve listening in English<\/h2>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Let\u2019s take a closer look at the most important tips on how to improve listening in English:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Practice your functional language skills. To see the best initial results, you must first be sure that you know as much vocabulary as possible in order to understand and participate in any type of conversation. If you are a beginner, I suggest you look for books, videos or even courses on how to improve your conversational skills, both listening and speaking. One method which works for everyone is separating the words you learn into functional topic areas based on your daily tasks. (e.g., morning routine, work, cooking etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Practice passive listening. During the day, whilst you are doing things around the house or office, I recommend that you play either an English podcast, film, music or a YouTube video in the background. In this way, as well as always being stimulated to learn new words and concepts, your brain will start to become familiar with the language and therefore you will be more prepared when it\u2019s time to put your English listening skills to the test.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Practice active listening. Whilst passive listening is listening to someone who isn\u2019t waiting for a reply, active listening is more proactive listening followed by taking action. Here are a couple of easy active listening exercises: One very useful activity is noting down any words that you don\u2019t know when you are watching a film; another effective example of active listening is writing down the emotions you feel when listening to one of your favourite songs, trying to use as many adjectives as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Professional advice on how to improve writing in English<\/h2>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Now that we have dealt with listening, let\u2019s take a look at how to improve writing in English:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Review grammar every now and then. This is particularly important if you are a beginner, I recommend you study grammar at least once a week, this way you will be 100% sure you don\u2019t make any common errors whilst writing;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Write a To Do List. As well as being an enormous help to being more productive during the day, writing a To Do List or a Shopping List in English will help your brain to think and reason in English and most of all, to make writing in English part of your daily routine.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Simplify everything. This advice is especially useful to those of you who have less experience: as English is a second language, you can\u2019t expect to write like you do in your mother tongue.
